History

Challenges
The First Japanese Carrier to Open a Data Center in Africa
- TELEHOUSE Johannesburg and TELEHOUSE Cape Town.
With the success of the World Cup and other recent major events, South Africa has grown in international prominence over the last few years. South Africa is also a major business hub where African companies forge alliances with international firms coming into the region. In December 2009, we opened TELEHOUSE Cape Town, the first data center to be opened by a Japanese telecom company in Africa. This center was followed by TELEHOUSE Johannesburg in March 2010.
South Africa is a midway point for submarine cables passing through East and West Africa. As customers enter the region from Europe, the Middle East, India and other locations in Asia, this infrastructure will likely be upgraded and expanded. This expected growth in demand is the reason why the KDDI Group set up data centers in Cape Town and Johannesburg. We are also using these two data centers to meet demand for business continuity plans (BCPs) and disaster recovery (DR) in South Africa.

Eco-Friendly Operations and Green IT - TELEHOUSE LONDON Docklands West
TELEHOUSE London Docklands West, opened in March 2010, incorporates the eco-conscious Green Data Center model in a state-of-the-art building. While standard power supply per racks of 4KVA meet the high-consumption needs of today, the building is ISO 14001:2004 certified, and equipped with a number of eco-friendly features, including solar panels, hot aisle/cold aisle layouts to improve air conditioning efficiency in rack rooms, the free supply of heated water to nearby homes (using exhaust heat from the data center), the latest energy efficient UPS systems, motion detection lighting systems, and various recycling efforts. These innovations will achieve a carbon savings of 1100 tons per annum.

One of the Only International-Standard Data Centers in Vietnam - TELEHOUSE Hanoi
Vietnam is a market where needs for global-level data centers are not being met. We opened TELEHOUSE Hanoi, an advanced data center providing Tier 3 or greater service levels, in July 2010. This center is designed to meet the needs for superior data center services for the local entities of Japanese and other international companies. In Vietnam, one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia, we provide IT infrastructure and operational support, built on the backbone of a highly reliable data center.
- *Classifications by The Uptime Institute, a U.S.-based private data center rating organization, indicating quantitative ratings for redundancy and other equipment configurations.
Virtual Global Data Center - Global Interlink
Global Interlink is an ultra-fast Ethernet IP connection among our New York, London and Paris sites.
