1953
Kokusai Denshin Denwa Co., Ltd. (KDD) is established.
1961
Establishment of "KDDI Singapore"
1963
First successful TV broadcast between Japan and the US performed at the Ibaraki Space Communications Research Facility.
1964
KDD, together with AT&T and a Hawaiian telecommunications company, laid the No.1 submarine trans-Pacific Cable (TPC-1) and commenced services.
1972
Establishment of "KDDI Europe" (headquartered in London)
1989
KDD started services using the No. 3 Trans Pacific Cable (TPC-3), the first submarine fibre optic cable in the Pacific Ocean.
Launch of "Telehouse New York Teleport", the first data center in the New York area
Establishment of "KDDI America"
1990
Launch of "Telehouse London Docklands North", the first purpose built data center in Europe
2000
DDI CORPORATION, KDD Corporation and IDO CORPORATION merge to form a new company. The trade name of the new entity is KDDI CORPORATION, the company operates under the new KDDI corporate brand
Establishment of "Telehouse Seoul" and "Telehouse Hong Kong"
2001
Establishment of KDDI China (headquartered in Beijing)
Launch of the world's first international IP-VPN service for business
2008
Launch of "Telehouse Singapore" and "Telehouse Beijing"
2009
Landing of Trans-Pacific fiber optic cable system, UNITY, in Japan. (UNITY commenced operation from 2010)
Launch of "Telehouse Capetown", the first Telehouse data center in Africa
2010
Launch of "Telehouse London Dockland West", the one of the largest data centers in Europe
2011
Launch of "Telehouse Hong Kong CCC", the second Telehouse data center in Hong Kong
Establishment of "KDDI Russia" and "KDDI Brazil"
2012
Establishment of "KDDI Myanmar"
Launch of the shortest route between Japan and Europe with RJCN(Russia-Japan Cable Network) and Transit Europe-Asia (TEA).
2014
Entered into agreement and commenced joint business with Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT).
Entered into a joint construction agreement with regard to building "FASTER", a new trans-Pacific Cable between Japan and the US
2015
Establishment of "KDDI Cambodia", a branch of KDDI Singapore.
Launch of Telehouse second data center in Osaka.
2016
Launch of Telehouse fifth data center in London and third in Tama, Tokyo.
